Alpe du Grand Serre

Carroz means "crossroads", "Crossroads" or "scree", "stony place" (of Celtic origin KAERI), stone, rock (root pre-Indo-European Mediterranean: kal / kar).

It gives residents of the town of funny nicknames "Catelus" for the inhabitants of Arâches "Angorins" for those of Frasse. Located at 1 140 m altitude, the station is defined as an "authentic village resort in the heart of the Alps".

It is located 55 km from Chamonix and 40 km from Geneva on a wide sunny plateau above the valley of the Arve, and is part of the Grand Massif (Flaine, Les Carroz d'Arâches, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt - Fer à Cheval).
