Haute-Sâone is a French department that is part of the Franche-Comté region. The main city is Vesoul.

Haute-Sâone is mainly a countryside destination. A rural site suitable for walks in the forests, especially in summer when the weather is nice and mild.

This department has a rich historical heritage dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, with churches and their Classical and Baroque styles altarpieces, public buildings, castles and mansions. Ronchamps is famous around the world for its Chapel designed by Le Corbusier in 1955.

Eleven towns are listed as ‘Petites cités comtoises de caractère’ (small Comtoise cities with charm in English), these are: Vauvillers, Faverney, Scey-sur-Saône, Villersexel, Fondremand, Ray-sur-Saône, Champlitte, Bucey-lès-Gy, Gy, Marnayand Pesmes.

River Saône is a very popular river among fishermen and tourists, thanks to the quality of its water and environment. Also, houseboats and barges are now a very popular way to explore the river.

Finally, there are frequent leisure flights over the ‘plateau des 1000 étangs’ as the landscapes are spectacular.
