Cher is a French department that is part of the Centre region of France. Its capital is Bourges. The Cher department is a vast plateau positioned half-way between Paris and the Massif Central. Sancerre, which form a really picturesque townscape on the flat landscape, is located in the north of the department. The area surrounding the town is covered by the vineyards that make this town a well known name throughout the world. Cher is a department of history, culture and tradition all set in a beautiful and varied landscape and has been inspiration to artists and writers for centuries.

Cher has a rich natural heritage such as Champagne Berrichonne, the Quincy vineyard region, Sologne, Sancerrois, Boischaut and Val de Loire. There are some local specialties, food-wise, including goat cheese Chavignol, green lentils a frequent ingredient in local dishes and forestines, the first filled sweet invented by Georges Forest in 1879.

Finally, Bourges hosts the famous music festival, Le Printemps de Bourges annually.
