Saint jean de luz

• The Grande Plage: a fine sandy beach, numerous activities, sports... This beach is protected by three sea walls and is located right beside the city centre. An ideal place for children.

A covered market was built to replace the marshes as  Saint-Jean-de-Luz or Donibane Lohizune (Saint-Jean des Marais) were built on wet lands at the mouth of River Nivelle.

Opening hours: every morning from 6am. The outside food market on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 am throughout the year and on Saturdays in July and August.

In Saint Jean de Luz, the shops are ideally located at the heart of the historical centre. Pedestrian streets such as Rue Gambetta, Loquin, de la Republique or Garat are packed with modern and traditional shops.

The Basque region always had strong traditions. The traditional Basque sport 'La Pelote' is still played by the inhabitants. The Basque people also like to sing and dance as this is a very important part of the Basque culture.
