In the heart of the Basin of Arcachon, Biganos, Audenge and Lanton are a very rich natural sites with the Delta of La Leyre, Pine and oak trees forests, the path by the beaches opening up on one of the most beautiful spot of the Basin, the ancient marshes.

A walk towards the Basin of Arcachon. The Birds Island and the famous sheds 'tchanquées' that were initially built to guard oyster farms. Today they watch over a wildlife territory. 

Numerous birds are living on these lands, which is an ideal place for them.

Discover Oyster farms and Marinas

Five picturesque port with their typical sheds and  traditional boats called pinasses give a lot of charm to the three towns: Biganos, Tuiles, Audenge, Cassy and Taussat.

Most of these sites allow visitors to observe the work of oyster farmers as well as enjoying the freshest oysters in tasting sessions.

 Oysters are very important in the Basin of Arcachon. In Audenge and in Lanton, there is about fifteen oyster farmers who live according to the tide. The Office of Tourism offers guided tours all year round.

Walking along the coast

The coastline located in the north of the Basin or more precisely the domain of Certes (from Lanton), walk at your own pace on this 5 to 15 km long footpath.

On each sides of the path you will discover two amazing landscapes, the unspoiled banks of the Basin of Arcachon on one side and the former salterns on the other.

Discover the island of Malprat
