Welcome to névache

Tourism in summer with the hiking but also on the back of the asses or on horse, the V.T.T., fishing, climbing the activities; water the running and of course dawdling under the many sun rays very often present…

Tourism in winter, with the ski touring, the excursion racket, walks in sledges with dogs and the ski touring… And tourism of the intersaison with a resplendent nature fauna, flora and surprising landscapes of beauties and colors.

The town is rich in a cultural heritage and architectural: churches and vaults decorated with murals, baker's ovens, houses with the shingles of larches, sundials, without forgetting the many small vaults disseminated in the mountain.

• The church Saint-Marcellin cheese in Névache

It was built on old a " house forte" in XV century. The old tower of the castle became the bell-tower which received the arrow in 1633. Chorus of the church arched on cross d' warheads cash shelters a retable gilded of the XVIII century 15 statues. In the old dungeon of the castle, is the treasure whose more beautiful piece is an encrusted copper pyxide d' enamels of XI century.

• The Saint-Hippolyte vault (with Roubion, crossroads of the collar of Scale)

This vault of IV century was the parish of Névache until XV century. The statue of St Hippolyte (1612) which was in this vault is now in l' Church Saint-Marcellin cheese in Névache.

• The Saint-Sebastien church in Plampinet

Built in 1510, this church of Romance style surmounted by a bell-tower with bulb contains splendid murals of XVI century, of which the cycle of Passion in 21 panels.

• The Notre-Dame vault of the Graces

Located at Plampinet and built in the XV century in Romance style, it presents to the interior a beautiful whole of murals illustrating the capital sins and the corresponding virtues. The seven deadly sins are connected by the neck the ones with the others and move towards the open mouth of Hell.

• Vaults

They are numerous, in particular in Haut Valley, and are often decorated with frescos. One of most charming, is the vault Sainte-Marie de Foncouverte (built in 1627), and highest of the commune is the vault of the Mount Thabor (3170m).

• Baker's ovens

Each hamlet of the Valley had its baker's oven. Formerly, the baker's oven was used not the families of the village for two large annual batches: the first in spring for the provision of the summer, and the second with the autumn for that of the winter. Duration of cookings spread out over one period one month and the furnace functioned uninterrupted. Each family prepared the bread dough at the house in the family kneader.
