The river Besbre and its clear water makes the town of Dompierre and its surroundings a very pretty and pleasant place to be. The canal, the harbour and the towpaths offer walkers great sights on the landscapes of the Bourbon Sologne and the Val de Besbre.

The 'Canal Lateral' to the River Loire, flows through the department on a distance of 48 km between Gannay-sur-Loire and Digoin.

The Sept Fons Abbey

The Sept Fons Abbey is located in the village of Diou and was built in the 12th century. Today, it is inhabited by Trappist Monks who make different products out of wheat germs that they sale in the shop located in the abbey court yard. The abbey cannot be visited but a slide show is available to learn more about the monastic lifestyle.

The 'Parc de la Source Libre'

The parc des Sources Libre and its rose garden is a pleasant place that joins the stream of the 'Percières'. There is also two sculptures, one of Roland Cognet made of cedar wood and sequoia wood and one of Luc Tarantini.

Graffitis on the 'guinguette' walls

The frescoe was made by three artists in the summer 2001 on the theme 'The Enchanted Garden'. To allow this type of artistic event to happen again, several walls have been left blank for the artists to create their spontaneous and ephemeral paintings.
