Privas is the main city of the Ardèche department with currently 8692 inhabitants. Located in the heart of the department of Ardèche, Privas is a great base for discovering all the Ardeche.

Built on a rocky outcrop overlooking two valleys, Privas preserved its remarkable historical and religious heritage as shown by several of these monuments: the Tour Diane de Poitiers, the Pont Louis XIII, The Chapelle des Récollets or the Porte des Diamants. Many museums also preserve the heritage of Privas rich past.

Privas is the entrance of the Parc Naturel Régional des Monts d'Ardèche, the city has imposed a soothing atmosphere and a living area for a stopover to recharge one’s batteries. Attractive, it opens its doors offering many entertainment and historical paths. But also friendly meetings at the market among local producers, contribute to the identity of the city. Privas is also known for the chestnut puree and being the capital of the marron glacé and chestnut cream. Every year in the city, in April is held the National Day of Archaeology.
