Tourism Espelette

Espelette is a village situated in the Basque Country which has preserved its traditions and its charms.

Espelette is famous for its hot pepper, which is named after the village and which has replaced pepper in the local cuisine. Thus, we can see hot pepper grappes in many shops in the village.

Espelette has also a history, with its castle, which belonged in the old times to the lords of Ezpeleta, and its church which looks like a fortress.

The Espelette village attracts a lot of tourists thanks to its local products market, its hiking tracks in the Mondarrain mountain and the many events the local associations organize.
